The United Nations has welcomed US and Chinese declarations on climate change. China and the United States have pledged to work together to mitigate the effects of climate change at the World Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Scotland.
The agreement was welcomed by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. “I welcome the announcement by the United States and China to work together in the coming years to reduce the effects of climate change, and I am confident that this will have a positive impact on the world,” he tweeted.
The declaration of the conference is currently being prepared. The agreement encourages rich nations to increase aid to poorer nations. The conference agreement was drafted to help mitigate the effects of climate change. In particular, the agreement focuses on adaptation and economic issues.
The effects of climate change have been attributed to rich nations, but poorer nations have not been able to reduce their impact because rich nations have not contributed enough.
