Pakistan to strengthen ties with Afghan Taliban

Pakistan has promised to strengthen bilateral ties with the Taliban. In a meeting with acting Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaki, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said his country would continue its efforts to resolve the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

 

Speaking on his country’s commitment to peace and stability in Afghanistan, Qureshi said Pakistan would continue its efforts to provide humanitarian and economic assistance to Afghanistan despite the difficult situation, according to a statement issued by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry.

Foreign Minister Qureshi reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Afghanistan in all areas. He emphasized the need to strengthen regional stability and promote economic activity and connectivity once peace is restored in Afghanistan.

Muttaki, who arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday on his first visit with a high-level delegation, also met with US special envoys for China, Russia, Pakistan and Afghanistan during the Troika Plus meeting in Islamabad on Thursday.
